Yet another local net dns config question

i have a dns server on local home net. it resolves for local and internet.

then i installed pihole, and now i point all machines to pihole and then pihole to the local dns server which forwards to opennic dns servers.

with this setup pihole isn't resolving local net machines.

did i do this setup backwards? i.e., should local dns server forward to pihole and pihole then to preferred opennic dns servers?

or is the setup ok and i just need to create a second dnsmasq configuration file that i see mentioned in some of the help threads?

Try doing the steps you outlined in the "Did I do this step backwards", the local DNS needs to be able to resolve the names via mDNS/Avahi/Bonjour and then have the local DNS forward to the Pi-hole.
